Ghosts, witches, and monsters overrun Metro Manila Toastmasters Club

Halloween may still be a week away, but the Metro Manila Toastmasters Club (MMTC) was already overrun by all sorts of monsters, ghosts, ghouls and witches!

Last Monday, October 22, MMTC held an early Halloween party in time with its weekly meeting. And when the MMTC throws a party, it really pulls out all stops! Club President Christine Gonzales made sure the scene was set for a totally spooky Halloween party by personally overseeing the room decoration. With the generous help of Immediate Past President Mariecel Oñate, the Humabon Room of Sulo Hotel was transformed into a creepy, yet festive, Halloween lair. Black and orange bats, pumpkins, and balloons hung from the ceiling, while monster masks adorned the walls. The hotel room door even added to the Halloween atmosphere, as it eerily creaked whenever it was opened!

No shortcuts

I’ve addressed thousands of people, sometimes twice or thrice a day, on a wide stage with bright spotlights. I’ve sung my heart out, danced to exhaustion, and delivered monologues in packed auditoriums. I’ve talked to crowds from all walks of life.

I was a theater actress for more than ten years. Facing huge audences was a thrill that came with the territory. So when a good friend of mine asked me to deliver a speech during her wedding, I thought it would be a cinch!
